The first issue of the St. Francis Xavier School Financial Development Annual Report is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Roderick (Rick) Marcotte. A former principal of our school, respected educator and benefactor, Mr. Marcotte died on Christmas Eve, 2004, at the age of 70.
Mr. Marcotte had the great ability to focus on each student
and guide them toward success. He felt that every child was
gifted and it was only a matter of determining that gift and
helping the child develop and polish it.
In order to continue Mr. Marcotte’s commitment to education, a scholarship fund has been established. For more information, or to make a donation to the Rick Marcotte Scholarship Fund, please contact the Development Office at 655.7690.

Bishop Salvatore R. Matano bestows a blessing on well wishers at St.
Francis Xavier School on Sunday, May 22, 2005. Bishop Matano celebrated
the 11 a.m. Mass and then attended a welcoming reception at the school.
St. Francis Xavier School gratefully acknowledges a gift of $65,000 from
the George W. Mergens Foundation. The grant is earmarked for the
establishment of an outreach scholarship fund for students in area
parishes. In announcing this gift, Paul Mergens, President of the
Foundation and son of George W. Mergens, emphasized the growing need and
the importance of Catholic education. The scholarship is for a term of
one year with the option of an annual renewal for qualifying students.
Scholarships are $1000 and there is an application process. The St.
Francis Xavier Community would like to thank Paul Mergens and the
Mergens Foundation for this generous opportunity for our students. This
scholarship fund will have a resounding impact on our school and leaves
a wonderful legacy in memory of Mr. George Mergens.
The Mergens Foundation grant is an inspiration to us all and will serve to help us carry on in our commitment and dedication to St. Francis Xavier School. If you would like more information on this scholarship, or if you would like an application, please contact Mrs. Maria Horton at 802.655.2600.
We are sincerely grateful to everyone who helps organize our weekly bingo nights and to all the people who come to play bingo. More than $35,500 was donated to our school last year from this important weekly event. We are also grateful to the Saint Francis Xavier Home and School Association for organizing and operating activities vital to our students.
This has been a wonderful year at St. Francis Xavier School. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has contributed to the continuing success of our school. Contributions came in many forms — monetary donations, memorial tributes, volunteer donations of time and energy in support of our events and gifts of in-kind products. We are very fortunate that each and every one of you has such a strong commitment to St. Francis Xavier School. Finally, we extend congratulations to the 2005 Graduates of Saint Francis Xavier School, who have been the focus of the generosity of so many people.
The Saint Francis Xavier School Faculty and Staff are grateful to our students and their families and to all our benefactors.
