Spiritual Life
Religion, Faith Development and Spirituality are at the
heart of life at St. Francis Xavier School. We strive to
help our students, in an age-appropriate way, investigate
their faith and work to become great human beings. All of
this in a non-coercive environment that provides the ability
for students to embrace a faith that is authentically their
own.
The school community celebrates Mass each week. Geared to enabling our students every opportunity of participation, we feature dialogue homilies, intercessions written by the students (as well as shared intercessions), readings proclaimed by students, and music provided by students.
There is, for our community, regular opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of Confession, and prayer services to lift the mind and heart to God.
Further, we are a community where service is possible in many ways, from helping members of the local community, to engaging in projects to help students to see their place in the world. This year in particular, our school community has provided assistance to St. Elizabeth's School in Chicago, an African American Catholic School operated by the community founded by St. Katharine Drexel. Currently, we are raising money to help a school in the Congo.
